Touchet Valley Golf Course

Dayton sits in the rolling wheat country of Columbia County, deep in southeastern Washington's Palouse fringe, where the land folds and swells in long, amber waves before the Blue Mountains rise to the south. It's genuinely rural golf — the kind of community course that serves a small agricultural town and doesn't pretend to be anything else, which is part of its appeal. The Touchet River winds through this corner of Washington, and the course takes its name from that valley.

An 18-hole, par-72 layout at this latitude and elevation means you'll likely get firm, fast conditions by midsummer, when the inland heat dries the high desert air and distances can play shorter than expected. Spring and early fall tend to be the most pleasant windows, with the surrounding hills showing their best color.

For visiting golfers, Dayton itself rewards a look — it has one of the oldest surviving railroad depots in Washington state and a compact historic downtown. The course fits the town: unpretentious, accessible, and rooted in its place.
