Manchester Golf Club sits at roughly 2,000 feet above sea level in the cool highlands of central Jamaica, making it one of the most pleasantly surprising rounds on the island. Founded in 1868, it holds the distinction of being the oldest golf club in the Caribbean — a claim that gives the place a quiet, understated authority that no modern resort course can manufacture.
The layout occupies the hills around Mandeville, a town long known for its mild climate and decidedly un-tropical character — more English market town than beach destination. That elevation brings genuine relief from Jamaica's coastal heat, and the course plays through terrain that is hilly, tight in places, and shaped by land that was never groomed purely for golf.
