曹妃湖高尔夫俱乐部 sits on the shores of Caofeidian Lake in Tangshan, a city in eastern Hebei that carries one of modern China's most remarkable industrial reinvention stories. Tangshan was largely destroyed by the catastrophic 1976 earthquake and rebuilt from the ground up, and Caofeidian itself — the broader coastal district — was developed as a massive new industrial and residential zone reclaimed from tidal flats along the Bohai Sea. Golf here exists within that context of deliberate, large-scale construction, where the landscape is flat, open, and shaped by human hands rather than natural topography.
The course takes its character from the lake setting, with water featuring prominently throughout the layout and the wide Hebei sky giving rounds an expansive, unhurried feel. Winters in this part of north China are cold and the playing season concentrates in the warmer months, when the course can draw players from both Tangshan's urban core and the surrounding Jing-Jin-Ji metropolitan region.
For visiting golfers, the club represents the newer wave of destination-style Chinese golf — purpose-built alongside leisure and residential development, offering a polished experience well removed from the capital's busier golf corridors.
