Few golf courses in New England carry a name that doubles as a statement of regional identity, but this Bellingham layout earns it. New England Country Club is best known in serious golf circles as the site of the 1995 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, a legitimate national championship stage that put this Massachusetts layout on the map well beyond its immediate zip code. The Brian Silva design opened in 1991 and quickly established itself as one of the more ambitious public-access courses in the region — routed through rugged, wooded terrain with enough elevation change and strategic variety to reward repeat play.
Bellingham sits in Norfolk County, roughly midway between Providence and Boston, in the kind of quiet, working-class Massachusetts landscape where golf tends to feel unpretentious and serious at the same time. The course leans into its surroundings rather than fighting them, and the tree-lined corridors give it a distinctly New England autumn personality.
