Few golf courses enjoy a setting quite like this one. Draped across the western shore of Lake Garda in Lombardy, Il Colombaro occupies terrain that has drawn artists, writers, and European aristocracy for centuries. The lake itself — Italy's largest — creates a microclimate mild enough to support olive trees, lemon groves, and cypress, and that same landscape frames virtually every hole here. Playing golf against a backdrop of shimmering water and the Brescian hills beyond is an experience that belongs to no other sport quite the way it belongs to this place.
The course is a genuine test laid across rolling, sometimes steep lakeside terrain, and course management matters considerably more than raw power. The elevation changes demand thoughtful club selection, and the views have a way of distracting even the most focused player at critical moments.
Salò itself is one of the most elegant towns on Garda's western Riviera, known for its long lakeside promenade, fine restaurants, and unhurried pace. For visiting golfers, the surrounding area offers accommodation and dining that few golf destinations in northern Italy can match.
