Huixquilucan sits in the hills west of Mexico City, where the Valley of Mexico's sprawling urban edge gives way to pine-covered ridges and noticeably cooler air. This municipio of the Estado de México has developed rapidly over recent decades into one of the capital's most affluent suburbs, and the golf that exists here reflects that — private, polished, and oriented toward a well-heeled local membership rather than visiting tourists passing through.
Lomas Country Club reads as a genuine members' institution in that mold: a place built around community, regularity, and the rhythms of club life rather than resort spectacle. The par-71 layout — slightly asymmetrical in its par distribution — suggests a course with personality and decision-making baked into the routing, where not every hole follows a predictable template.
The setting itself does a lot of the work. At altitude in the high valleys west of the capital, the thin air stretches ball flights meaningfully, and the terrain of this region rarely offers flat lies or straight-forward angles. Players who know Mexico City's highland golf will arrive with calibrated expectations; those discovering it for the first time tend to leave recalibrating everything.
