Paako Ridge sits in the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque, one of New Mexico's most celebrated golf destinations. The facility runs multiple 9-hole loops that can be combined into different 18-hole configurations, and the "2 & 3" designation points to exactly that kind of mix-and-match routing. At elevation in the high desert, the course occupies terrain where piñon pine, juniper, and dramatic rock outcroppings define the landscape as much as any bunker or water hazard ever could. The thin air means the ball travels noticeably farther than it would at sea level — a welcome bonus for most golfers.
Paako Ridge has earned consistent recognition among the top public-access courses in the Southwest, drawing players from Albuquerque and well beyond who make the short drive up into the mountains for the scenery as much as the golf. The views across the Rio Grande Valley are genuinely hard to match anywhere in the region.
Desert mountain golf has its own rhythm — wide skies, afternoon thunderstorm risk in summer, and a quality of light that makes late-morning tee times feel almost cinematic. Paako Ridge delivers that experience with a course that plays seriously enough to reward a return visit.
