Virvik Golf

Virvik Golf sits on a peninsula jutting into the Gulf of Finland just outside Porvoo, one of Finland's best-preserved medieval towns and a short drive east of Helsinki along the old King's Road. The course occupies genuinely dramatic Baltic coastal terrain — granite outcroppings, wind-bent pines, and sudden sea views define the landscape in a way that few Finnish courses can match. It opened in 1996 and has built a reputation as one of the more visually striking layouts in the Helsinki region, drawing players who want something beyond the flat inland parkland that dominates much of southern Finland.

The routing makes full use of the headland setting, with holes that run along rocky shoreline edges and others that cut through tight pine corridors. The wind off the gulf is a constant variable and an honest test — a calm-weather score rarely repeats itself when a Baltic breeze picks up.
