Missouri City sits in Fort Bend County just southwest of Houston, and El Dorado Golf Club is very much a product of that suburban landscape — a course shaped by the flat coastal plain terrain that defines this part of southeast Texas. The surrounding area is classic Gulf Coast golf country: wide skies, warm and humid for much of the year, and the kind of lush Bermuda turf conditions that reward shot-making from ground level as much as through the air.
A par-71 layout signals something worth noting before you even reach the first tee — the routing almost certainly leans on multiple par-3s or a shortened par-4 to arrive at that number, which tends to give a course a distinctive rhythm and keeps scoring interesting rather than formulaic. Fort Bend County has grown substantially over the past few decades, and El Dorado serves a golfing population that spans serious competitive players and everyday recreational rounds in equal measure.
The Houston metro region has a strong and active golf culture, with players able to log rounds year-round thanks to a climate that rarely forces extended shutdowns. El Dorado fits into that fabric as a local fixture for Missouri City's community.
