Millbrook

Millbrook Resort sits in one of New Zealand's most cinematically beautiful corners — the Wakatipu Basin outside Arrowtown, where the Remarkables and Crown Range form a jagged backdrop and the Arrow River winds through poplar-lined flats. The course has grown over the years into a 27-hole complex, allowing for 3 rotating 18-hole combinations, each playing through a landscape that shifts between manicured fairways and the raw schist-and-tussock terrain of Central Otago.

The original 18 holes were designed by Bob Charles, New Zealand's greatest champion, and the layout has since been expanded with additional holes that lean into the natural contours of the valley. Millbrook carries a genuine resort pedigree — it sits at the heart of a broader hotel and spa property — but the golf is taken seriously enough to have hosted New Zealand Open qualifying and to attract a strong international clientele drawn to Queenstown's year-round tourism pull.

Playing Millbrook means contending with crisp high-country air, the occasional gusty nor'wester funneling through the hills, and autumn cottonwoods turning gold along the fairway edges. It is polished resort golf, but the Central Otago setting gives it a scale and grandeur that purely manufactured resort courses rarely achieve.
