The Attersee Golf Club Weyregg sits on the eastern shore of the Attersee, Austria's deepest and clearest lake, in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria — one of the most scenically dramatic settings in all of Central European golf. The Attersee itself inspired Gustav Klimt, who painted it repeatedly during summers spent on its banks, and that same quality of light and water still defines the atmosphere here. The course occupies gently rolling lakeside terrain framed by the Höllengebirge mountains, and water views intrude on your concentration throughout the round.
The Salzkammergut lake district draws visitors for hiking, sailing, and culture as much as golf, and courses in this region tend to feel like a bonus discovery rather than the primary destination — which keeps them refreshingly unpretentious. The layout at Weyregg plays through a mix of open meadow and mature tree lines, with the mountain backdrop shifting dramatically depending on the weather and season.
This is resort-adjacent golf at a relaxed, member-friendly club — the kind of place where the 19th hole conversation includes which lake you can see from the terrace. Summer and early autumn are prime season, with long alpine evenings extending the playable day well past what the calendar suggests.
