Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort sits within one of Malaysia's most dramatically beautiful landscapes — the limestone karst hills surrounding Ipoh, where sheer grey cliffs rise from the valley floor and jungle vegetation clings to every crevice. The course is built around a natural lake system that gives the resort its name, and water comes into play on the majority of holes, demanding both accuracy and nerve from the tee. The combination of limestone backdrops, still water, and tropical greenery makes it one of the more visually arresting rounds you can play in Peninsular Malaysia.
Ipoh itself has quietly become a destination city, known for its colonial heritage, exceptional food scene, and a cooler, more comfortable climate than Kuala Lumpur to the south. The golf here benefits from that setting — mornings are typically fresh, and the surrounding hills create a sense of seclusion unusual for a resort course.
Clearwater draws both leisure visitors staying at the resort and day-trip golfers from KL making the roughly 2-hour drive north. It plays as a genuine resort experience rather than a tournament venue — generous enough to reward the holiday golfer while the water hazards and karst terrain keep things honest.
