Few private clubs in the American West carry the institutional weight of Colorado Springs Country Club. Founded in the late 19th century, it stands among Colorado's oldest country clubs, and its membership rolls have long reflected the city's civic and military establishment — Colorado Springs being home to Fort Carson, NORAD, and the Air Force Academy. The club has served as a gathering place for a community with deep ties to both tradition and service.
The course sits against the dramatic backdrop of Pikes Peak and the Front Range, and that setting shapes every round. The thin air at elevation adds distance to well-struck shots while the Rocky Mountain afternoon winds can make even familiar yardages feel treacherous. Fairways move through mature trees that give the layout a sheltered, parkland character unusual for a high-desert city.
As a private members' club, Colorado Springs Country Club rewards those who get to know it over many rounds. The par-71 configuration suggests a layout with some asymmetry and personality — a course built to be played, studied, and eventually understood.
