Country Club de Montréal

Few clubs in Canada carry the historical weight of Country Club de Montréal. Founded in 1898, it is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country, and its roots reflect the anglophone bourgeois society that shaped early Montreal's leisure culture. The club relocated to its current home in Saint-Lambert — on the South Shore of the St. Lawrence, just across the Victoria Bridge from the island of Montreal — and the course was redesigned by Stanley Thompson, Canada's most celebrated golf architect. Thompson's touch is evident in the naturalistic routing, the subtle contouring, and a design philosophy that works with the land rather than against it.

Saint-Lambert itself is a quiet, tree-lined suburb, and the course reflects that maturity — heavily wooded, with tight fairways that demand placement over power and reward players who think their way around rather than muscle through.

As a private members' club with well over a century of history, CCM occupies a particular place in Quebec golf: old-money, understated, and genuinely historic in a way most clubs can only claim to aspire to.
