Aldeburgh Golf Club is one of the oldest and most atmospheric links courses in England, founded in 1884 on the heathland and gorse-covered terrain behind the Suffolk coast. The club actually operates 2 courses — the celebrated main links and a shorter River course — and the River layout occupies the flatter, more sheltered ground closer to the River Alde estuary. With a par of 64, it plays as a genuine short course rather than a full-length test, but that doesn't mean it lacks interest or demands nothing of the player.

The River course suits those looking for a more relaxed round or a warm-up before tackling the main links, and it rewards accurate iron play and a deft short game over raw power.
