Salt Spring Island Golf Club has served the island's community for decades, occupying a landscape that is among the most distinctive in British Columbia golf. Salt Spring is the largest of the Southern Gulf Islands, sitting between Vancouver Island and the mainland, and its terrain carries that archipelago character — rolling, wooded, and shaped by a mild, rain-shadow climate that keeps the fairways green through much of the year without the saturating winters that drench the coast.
The course itself is a private members' club, the kind of place built and sustained by a tight-knit community rather than resort traffic or championship ambitions. That shapes everything about the experience: the pace, the familiarity among players, the sense that the golf exists in service of the membership rather than the market.
Gulf Islands golf tends to reward control and local knowledge over raw power — the terrain is rarely flat, trees frame most holes tightly, and the ground game matters. For members, this is a genuine home course in the deepest sense of that phrase.
