Emerald Links Golf Club

Emerald Links is a well-regarded public course in Greely, a rural community on Ottawa's southern edge, and it's one of the more ambitious daily-fee layouts in the National Capital region. Designed by Graham Cooke and opened in 1999, the course was built on gently rolling farmland and wetland corridors that give it a more spacious, open feel than many of its urban competitors — long sightlines, wide skies, and a sense that the city is genuinely far away, even though downtown Ottawa is under 30 minutes north.

Cooke's design makes strong use of the property's natural water features, with ponds and marsh edges coming into play on multiple holes and rewarding players who shape their tee shots thoughtfully. The course plays firm and fast in summer, and its conditioning has earned it a loyal following among Ottawa-area regulars looking for a step above the average public round.

Greely sits in Ottawa's greenbelt fringe, where the flat Ottawa Valley farmland begins to breathe. Winters are long and hard here, which makes the May-to-October season feel genuinely precious — and Emerald Links fills up fast on weekends once the ground thaws.
