Roan Antelope Golf Club takes its name from the Roan Antelope copper mine that built Luanshya into one of the Copperbelt's most prosperous towns in the 20th century. The club is a product of that mining-company era, when British and Southern African mining concerns routinely established recreational facilities — golf clubs chief among them — for their expatriate and local professional workforces.
