Golf de Saint-Cyprien

Saint-Cyprien sits on the Roussillon coast where the Pyrenees tumble toward the Mediterranean, and the golf club here has long been one of the landmark layouts of southern France. The course was designed by Juan Folco and opened in the early 1970s as part of a broader resort and residential development along this stretch of the Languedoc-Roussillon shoreline. Folco shaped the land into a layout that moves through pine groves and alongside the étangs — the shallow coastal lagoons that define this corner of Catalonia — giving the course a distinctive low-lying, links-adjacent feel despite its Mediterranean setting.

The prevailing Tramontane wind, a fierce northwesterly that funnels down from the Pyrenees, is as much a playing condition as any bunker or water hazard. On calm days the course can feel generous; when the Tramontane arrives, club selection becomes a serious conversation.

Membership here is private, and the club carries a certain prestige within the French golf scene — a well-regarded address on a coastline better known for summer tourism than serious golf.
