Few golf destinations in China carry the pedigree of this facility on Beijing's eastern fringe. Dongfang Shuangying — Eastern Double Eagle — is a private club that emerged during the early-2000s boom that transformed the capital's outskirts into one of Asia's most concentrated golf corridors. The club's name alone signals ambition, and the course delivers a design with genuine scale and visual drama, routed through terrain that shifts between open, wind-exposed stretches and tighter, tree-lined corridors typical of the region's better-appointed layouts.
Beijing golf is shaped by extremes. Summers bring humid heat and unpredictable afternoon storms rolling in from the surrounding plains; winters arrive hard and early, compressing the season. The Chaoyang and Shunyi districts east of the city became the heartland of capital-area golf precisely because the flatter land there accommodates both resort infrastructure and the kind of acreage serious courses require.
As a private members' club, Double Eagle caters to Beijing's corporate and diplomatic community, where the game functions as much as a business ritual as a sporting pursuit. Expect well-maintained conditions, attentive service, and a membership culture that takes the game seriously.
