Few courses wear their name as honestly as Windyhill. Designed by James Braid and opened in 1908, this Bearsden layout sits on elevated ground to the northwest of Glasgow, where the wind is a genuine and permanent feature of the challenge rather than an occasional inconvenience. Braid — five-time Open Champion and one of the most prolific course architects Britain has ever produced — shaped a layout that rewards thoughtful shot-making and punishes complacency, characteristics that have kept it quietly respected among west of Scotland golfers for well over a century.
