Few golf destinations in the Mediterranean carry the drama of the Troodos foothills, and Minthis sits squarely in that landscape — an 18-hole layout built around a restored 12th-century monastery in the Tsada village area west of Paphos. The course was originally developed in the 1990s and has operated under various identities, but a major redevelopment in the late 2010s — overseen by architect Thomas Himmel — transformed it into one of Cyprus's most compelling rounds, threading fairways through ancient carob and olive trees that predate the game of golf by centuries.
The terrain does real work here. Elevation changes across the hillside property create naturally separated holes with genuine variety, and the old monastery ruins serve as a visual anchor that no amount of architectural design could manufacture. It plays as a parkland course by classification, but the Mediterranean scrub, stone walls, and terracotta-toned earth give it a character entirely its own.
Paphos itself is the island's most golf-rich region, home to several courses that draw European tour visitors and winter-sun travelers alike. Minthis distinguishes itself through authenticity — this feels less like a resort amenity and more like a place that simply grew from its surroundings.
