Ho Chi Minh City's golf scene has expanded rapidly since Vietnam reopened to private investment in the 1990s, and Nam Sai Gon — "South Saigon" — reflects that era of development, positioned in the southern districts where the city gradually gives way to the flat, canal-laced landscape of the Mekong Delta fringe. The course sits in a part of the metropolis that has transformed dramatically over the past 3 decades, with sprawling new urban development replacing what was once open agricultural land.
Vietnam's southern lowlands don't offer dramatic elevation changes, so courses in this region tend to rely on water features, mature tropical vegetation, and creative bunkering to generate interest and difficulty. Expect broad fairways framed by palms and tropical hardwoods, with the humidity and heat of the south — particularly from March through May — making club selection and course management as demanding as the layout itself.
For visiting golfers, playing golf in Ho Chi Minh City carries its own particular texture: the city's energy is never entirely absent, and a round here doubles as an immersion in one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic urban environments.
