Golf du Médoc

Few wine regions in the world have embraced golf as naturally as the Médoc, and Golf du Médoc — sitting in the heart of Bordeaux's famous left-bank wine country — is the standard-bearer for that pairing. The resort hosts 2 distinctly characterized 18-hole courses: the Les Châteaux layout, designed by Bill Coore and Ron Garl and opened in 1989, and the Les Vignes course. Les Châteaux is the headline act, consistently ranked among France's top courses, its routing deliberately threading through the vineyards and pine forests that define this corner of Gironde, with the silhouettes of grand châteaux punctuating the horizon at almost every turn.

The terrain is relatively flat, as the Médoc peninsula tends to be, but the design compensates with strategic bunkering, water features, and the ever-present wind off the Atlantic — just 50 kilometers to the west — which can make club selection a genuine puzzle.
