Brawley sits in the Imperial Valley, one of the most geographically striking corners of California — a below-sea-level agricultural basin carved out of the Sonoran Desert, where summer temperatures routinely push past 110 degrees and the landscape is defined by irrigation canals, date palms, and the distant Chocolate Mountains. Golf out here is a different kind of commitment, and Del Rio Country Club has long served as the valley's home course for a community that takes its golf seriously despite — or perhaps because of — the unforgiving climate.
As a private country club in a close-knit agricultural town, Del Rio carries the social weight these clubs typically do in smaller American communities: it's where members gather not just for weekend rounds but for the everyday rhythms of local life.
