Cambridge sits on the Choptank River along Maryland's Eastern Shore, a landscape defined by tidal marshes, broad water views, and the flat, open character of the Delmarva Peninsula. This is waterfowl country — the kind of terrain where the horizon feels wide and the wind across the water is a constant, unignorable force in club selection. The Eastern Shore has long supported a quiet but serious golf culture, and River Marsh fits naturally into that tradition.
The name alone tells you a great deal about what to expect. A course called River Marsh isn't hiding its surroundings — water and wetland habitat are woven into the layout, which means the scenery is genuine and the penalty for errant shots is often very real. Playing here in any kind of breeze off the Choptank requires honest course management and an appreciation for how coastal conditions change a round.
Cambridge itself is a small Chesapeake Bay town with a rich maritime history, and River Marsh offers a version of golf that suits the region: unhurried, scenic, and grounded in a specific sense of place that resort destinations rarely manufacture on purpose.
