鹿部カントリー倶楽部 sits on the southeastern shore of Hokkaido, in the small fishing and hot-spring town of Shikabe, facing the waters of Uchiura Bay with the volcanic cone of Mount Komagatake rising dramatically to the west. This corner of Hokkaido's Oshima Peninsula is geothermally alive — Shikabe is famous for its geyser — and the landscape has a raw, northern energy that distinguishes it sharply from the manicured resort corridors of Niseko or Sapporo. Playing here, you are genuinely out on the edge of things.
The course itself occupies terrain shaped by the volcanic geography of the region, with the kind of wide, open Hokkaido skies that make distances deceptive and weather conditions unpredictable. The sea air off Uchiura Bay and the presence of Komagatake mean conditions shift quickly, and wind becomes a legitimate factor in club selection on exposed holes.
Shikabe is a working community rather than a tourist hub, giving the club a quietly local, members-first character. Visitors playing here are getting an authentic slice of rural Hokkaido golf — unhurried, scenic, and well removed from the island's more internationally marketed destinations.
