Wildstone Golf Club opened in 2007 in Cranbrook, British Columbia, designed by the acclaimed Canadian architect Thomas McBroom. Built across rugged, rolling terrain in the Rocky Mountain Trench — the broad valley corridor flanked by the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges — the course was immediately recognized as one of Canada's finest public layouts, earning top rankings in national golf publications and establishing Cranbrook as a legitimate golf destination.
McBroom's design makes full use of the dramatic elevation changes and natural contours of the site, routing holes through stands of pine and across exposed ridgelines where the mountain panoramas become as much a part of the experience as the golf itself. The course plays long and demands strategic thinking, rewarding players who manage the terrain rather than overpower it.
Cranbrook sits in the sunny East Kootenay region, one of British Columbia's most underrated pockets of golf country. The area enjoys more sunshine than most of coastal BC, and Wildstone's season typically stretches well into autumn — making it a genuine draw for serious golfers willing to make the trip east of the Rockies.
