Few golf clubs in northern Germany carry the institutional weight of Hamburg Wendlohe. Founded in 1966 and situated in the Schnelsen district on Hamburg's northwestern edge, the club has grown into one of the most respected private members' clubs in the country, operating 3 separate courses across a substantial stretch of the Hamburg greenbelt — a rare footprint that gives the membership genuine variety within a single site.

The courses wind through a classic north German lowland landscape: birch and pine woodland, heathland openings, and the kind of flat-to-gently-rolling terrain that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power. The design sensibility across the layouts is traditional rather than showy — fairways defined by mature trees, greens protected by subtle contouring and well-placed bunkering. In the right conditions, with a Baltic wind pushing in from the north, even the more forgiving stretches demand honest ball-striking.
