East Meadow sits in the heart of Nassau County, Long Island — one of the most golf-dense counties in the United States, where public and private courses have competed for space since the early 20th century. Long Island's flat terrain, ocean-influenced breezes, and occasionally punishing winters have shaped a regional golf culture that is serious, unpretentious, and deeply rooted in the everyday player's experience.
A course named simply "Blue" in this context almost certainly refers to one of the layouts at Eisenhower Park Golf, Nassau County's beloved public complex on the grounds of the former Salisbury Golf Club. That site carries genuine history — it hosted U.S. Open qualifying for decades and was the training ground for generations of Long Island golfers who couldn't afford the private clubs dotting the North Shore.
