Clandon Regis

Clandon Regis sits on the greensand ridge south of Guildford, in a part of Surrey that has been producing quality parkland golf for well over a century. Opened in 1994 and designed by David Williams, the course occupies the grounds of the former West Clandon estate, and that heritage shows — mature trees line many of the fairways, and the undulating ground gives the layout a natural, established feel that belies its relatively recent origins. The course has built a solid reputation among Surrey members' clubs without ever shouting about it.

The Surrey Hills form the backdrop, and the elevated sections of the course offer views across the Weald that reward the climb. The turf tends to run firm and true through summer, and the tree-lined corridors demand accuracy off the tee more than raw distance.

As a private members' club it has a traditional feel — well-maintained and unhurried, the kind of place where the golf is taken seriously but the atmosphere stays relaxed. For visitors, it offers a genuine taste of the Surrey parkland belt at its understated best.
