Oak Meadows has been a cornerstone of public golf in the western Chicago suburbs for decades, operated by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District alongside its sister courses on the same sprawling property. The Preserve at Oak Meadows represents a significant reimagining of that legacy — a modern renovation that reshaped the routing through mature oak woodland and open meadow corridors, giving the course both its name and a cleaner sense of identity distinct from the adjacent layouts.
DuPage County's forest preserve courses have long punched above their weight for public-access golf, drawing players from across the Chicago metro who want something more engaging than a flat, featureless suburban track. Oak Meadows delivers that through a landscape that does real work — the mature tree canopy frames holes and creates genuine strategic pressure without the course ever feeling punishing or exclusive.
Northern Illinois golf is a spring-through-fall pursuit, and this part of the Fox Valley corridor rewards repeat play. The mix of wooded stretches and open ground means conditions and strategy shift noticeably with the seasons.
