Manchester Center sits in the Battenkill Valley, bracketed by the Taconic and Green Mountain ranges — one of the more scenic addresses in Vermont golf, and a region with a surprisingly deep country-club tradition anchored by the famous Ekwanok Country Club nearby. Manchester Country Club occupies this same storied corridor, serving its membership with an 18-hole layout that makes full use of the rolling, wooded terrain characteristic of southern Vermont.
Without detailed records on hand, the specifics of the course's architectural lineage are best confirmed locally, but private clubs in this part of New England tend to share a common character: tree-lined fairways, firm-and-fast conditions that reward placement over power, and a layout that plays differently in May's soft ground than it does in the dry, golden weeks of September and October.
