Otley

Few courses in West Yorkshire wear their history as comfortably as Otley Golf Club. Founded in 1906, the club occupies the hillside above the Wharfe Valley on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, and the views across to Otley Chevin — the gritstone ridge that defines this corner of the county — are as much a part of the round as the golf itself. The terrain is classic moorland-meets-parkland: firm, rolling fairways, heather and rough that punishes waywardness, and the kind of honest, unforgiving turf that rewards a low, controlled game over brute force.

The par 70 layout reflects the land honestly — the course doesn't need length to test you. Elevation changes demand real course management, and the wind off the Chevin has a habit of making familiar holes feel entirely different from one day to the next.

Otley town sits just below, a market town with genuine character, and the club itself feels like a proper members' institution — competitive, community-minded, and proud of its place in the Leeds and Bradford golfing landscape.
