Few clubs in Texas carry the layered history of Austin Country Club. Founded in 1899, it is one of the oldest golf and country clubs in the state, and its current home along the limestone bluffs of the Colorado River — on the grounds of a former estate in the Loop 360 corridor — is the work of Pete Dye, who opened the redesigned course in 1984. Dye's fingerprints are unmistakable: dramatic elevation changes, forced carries over ravines, and greens that reward precise shot-shaping over raw power. The routing makes full use of the Hill Country terrain, with several holes tumbling toward the river and offering views that are as distracting as they are beautiful.
As a private club with a membership that skews toward Austin's civic and business community, ACC has long served as the social backbone of the city's golf scene. It has hosted PGA Tour events and remains a regular stop for elite amateur competition in Texas.
Austin itself amplifies the experience. The Hill Country's cedar and live oak, the persistent Texas wind, and the area's notoriously capricious spring weather mean no 2 rounds here ever feel quite alike.
