Few golf settings anywhere in the American Southwest stop you in your tracks quite like this one. Sedona Golf Resort sits amid the red rock country that has made this corner of northern Arizona one of the most visually arresting landscapes on earth — Cathedral Rock, the towering sandstone buttes, the rust-colored canyon walls. The course was designed by Gary Panks and opened in 1988, routing fairways through high desert terrain where elevation changes and the surrounding geology do as much work as any architect could.
Playing here means navigating a landscape shaped by ancient geology rather than a bulldozer's imagination. The red rock formations don't just frame the course as backdrop — they're woven into the actual routing, influencing shot angles and creating a sense of scale that keeps even experienced golfers a little wide-eyed. Desert vegetation, elevation shifts, and occasionally unpredictable winds add genuine strategic challenge beyond the scenery.
Sedona itself draws visitors from around the world for its natural beauty and spiritual reputation, and the resort reflects that character — unhurried, visually overwhelming, and memorable in ways that outlast your scorecard.
