The Bukit Course is one of the centrepiece layouts at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, a private residential and golf development that sits close to the Malaysia–Singapore causeway corridor in Iskandar Puteri, on the outskirts of Johor Bahru. Designed by Nelson & Haworth and opened in the late 2000s as part of one of southern Malaysia's most ambitious integrated townships, the course was built to a standard that appeals directly to the discerning Singaporean market just across the border — a detail that shapes everything from its conditioning expectations to its weekend atmosphere.
"Bukit" means hill in Malay, and the name earns its keep. The routing moves across genuinely undulating terrain, a rarity in a region where most courses are carved from flat plantation land. The elevation changes give players varied lies and shifting sightlines, while mature tropical vegetation frames the holes tightly enough to demand accuracy off the tee.
As part of a private members' club anchored to a high-end residential estate, the experience here leans toward the immaculate rather than the characterful — well-resourced, well-maintained, and oriented toward members and their guests seeking a serious round close to the Singapore–Johor border without crossing it.
