Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed this mountain layout, which opened in 1983 and remains one of the anchor courses of Whistler's resort golf scene. Set along the Fitzsimmons Creek corridor with Blackcomb and Whistler mountains as the backdrop, it plays through a mix of open meadow and mature Douglas fir and spruce, demanding accuracy off the tee as much as distance. The par-71 routing asks for real shot-shaping, and the mountain setting means elevation changes that don't always show up in yardage.
Whistler itself sits about 2 hours north of Vancouver in the Coast Mountains, and the golf window here runs roughly May through October, with the snowpack often visible on the peaks well into summer. The village draws visitors from around the world for skiing in winter, and its summer golf has built a genuine following — this course, along with Nicklaus North and Big Sky, gives the corridor a legitimate resort golf identity.
For most players, the setting does as much work as the design. Rounds here move at a resort pace through spectacular alpine scenery, and the combination of mountain air, dramatic sightlines, and a well-maintained track makes it worth the trip for any golfer passing through the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
