Few desert golf destinations have earned the reputation Troon North has built over three decades in north Scottsdale. The club operates 2 distinct 18-hole courses — the Monument and the Pinnacle — each designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and opened in the early 1990s. Weiskopf and Morrish were among the most influential shapers of Sonoran Desert golf, and Troon North is widely considered the pinnacle of their collaboration, routinely appearing on national top-100 lists and frequently cited as one of the finest public-access layouts in Arizona.
The courses thread through the high Sonoran Desert at the base of Pinnacle Peak, where saguaro cacti, boulder outcroppings, and dramatic elevation changes do most of the visual heavy lifting. Desert golf here is not merely decorative — errant shots find unforgiving native terrain, and the routing constantly demands decisions about risk and angle rather than simple power.
North Scottsdale has long attracted serious golfers, and Troon North sits at the top of that competitive market. It's a resort-caliber experience in one of the country's most golf-rich corridors, best played in the cooler months when the high desert light is sharp and the fairways are at their most receptive.
