Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club sits within one of Tampa's master-planned residential communities in the New Tampa corridor, a part of Hillsborough County that transformed rapidly from scrubland to suburb through the 1990s. The course was designed by Arthur Hills, the Michigan-based architect known for working sensitively with natural terrain, and opened in 1998 alongside the neighborhood it anchors. Hills routed the layout across the wetlands and palmetto-dotted flats typical of this part of Florida's interior, where water comes into play on the majority of holes and the flat topography demands that interest be created through strategic bunkering and bold use of the natural marsh edges.
This is a community course first — the club component is real, with a membership structure serving Heritage Isles residents — but it also welcomes outside play, positioning it as a legitimate public option in a city where quality access has historically been competitive.
Tampa's golf climate is among the most generous in the country: year-round play is the norm, with summer afternoons the only regular interruption when the Gulf's humidity triggers its predictable afternoon storms.
