Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club sits within the Ocean Pines community on Maryland's Eastern Shore, a planned residential development that took shape in the early 1970s just inland from Ocean City. The course was designed by Russell Roberts and opened in 1976, built to serve the growing community of homeowners and seasonal residents drawn to this stretch of the Delmarva Peninsula. It plays as a genuinely pleasant parkland layout, with mature trees lining many fairways and a few water features that come into play on key holes — not a brute test, but one that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power.
Ocean City's resort energy is close by, yet Ocean Pines itself has always felt a quieter, more residential counterpart to the boardwalk scene a few miles east. The golf club reflects that character: approachable and well-maintained, oriented toward members and the community rather than destination tourism.
For Eastern Shore regulars or visitors wanting a round away from the busier resort-area tracks, Ocean Pines offers an honest, tree-lined afternoon of golf with enough personality to keep it interesting from tee to green.
