Santa Cruz de la Sierra sits in Bolivia's eastern lowlands, a fast-growing commercial capital a world away from the Andean highlands that define most outsiders' image of the country. At elevation barely above sea level, the climate here is subtropical — warm and humid through much of the year, with a distinct dry season that browns the fairways and a wet season that brings the city's abundant vegetation back to vivid life. Golf in this part of South America occupies a particular social role, tied closely to the business and expatriate communities that have helped shape Santa Cruz into Bolivia's most cosmopolitan city.
Las Palmas Country Club is a private members' club serving that community, and like most such institutions in Latin America, it functions as a social anchor as much as a golf venue — a place where families gather on weekends and the game is woven into a broader club culture of dining, events, and membership tradition.
The par-71 layout reflects a course designed for variety rather than pure length. Playing in Bolivia's lowland heat and humidity, members contend with lush tropical rough, shade trees that genuinely come into play, and the logistical reality that this is one of the very few 18-hole courses in the entire country.
