Antognolla Golf Club

Few golf courses in central Italy carry the architectural pedigree that Antognolla does. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and unfolds across the Umbrian hills northeast of Perugia, where the landscape has been shaped over centuries by olive groves, cypress lines, and medieval hilltop settlements. RTJ Jr. had exceptional raw material to work with, and the routing makes full use of elevation changes and sweeping valley views that most designers could only dream of encountering.

Antognolla is part of a broader resort development anchored by the restored Castello di Antognolla, a centuries-old fortress that gives the property a sense of history no amount of course conditioning can manufacture. Playing here feels genuinely different from a standard resort round — the Umbrian countryside has a quiet, almost austere beauty, and the course reflects that character rather than fighting it.

For visiting golfers, this part of Italy remains less traveled than Tuscany just to the west, which means the pace of play and the atmosphere tend to be unhurried. Perugia, one of Italy's great walled cities, is less than 20 kilometers away.
