Hollystown Golf Club

Few clubs in the greater Dublin area have grown quite as deliberately as Hollystown. Founded in the early 1990s on agricultural land in The Ward, the club developed across 3 courses — a full 18-hole championship layout alongside a pair of shorter 9-hole loops — making it one of the more ambitious multi-course operations in the county. The championship course was designed with the rolling north County Dublin countryside in mind, and the land lends itself well to golf: open enough to let the wind play its part, varied enough in elevation to keep the routing interesting throughout.

The Ward sits in a corridor between Dublin city and the Meath border, close enough to the M2 to draw a broad commuter-belt membership but still genuinely rural in feel. The terrain is classic Irish midland-edge: wide skies, hedgerow boundaries, and turf that firms up pleasingly in summer but demands respect when Atlantic weather sweeps in from the west.

Hollystown has built a reputation as a welcoming, well-run club that takes visiting golfers seriously — a practical virtue that has helped it punch above its weight in a county where competition for rounds is fierce.
