McMinnville sits at the heart of the Willamette Valley, one of Oregon's most productive agricultural corridors and a region better known internationally for its Pinot Noir than its golf. The valley floor is broad and relatively flat, carved by ancient floods and framed by the Coast Range to the west and the Chehalem Mountains to the east — terrain that tends to produce open, walkable layouts where the sky feels enormous and morning fog lingers over the fairways well into late morning for much of the year.
Bayou Golf Club serves the everyday golfer in Yamhill County, offering a full 18-hole experience in a community that doesn't have an abundance of options at this scale. The "bayou" in the name hints at water — likely the kind of drainage corridors and wetland features that define low-lying Willamette Valley properties — which typically means water comes into play on several holes and the course can run soft through the long Pacific Northwest rainy season.
For visitors passing through wine country, Bayou represents accessible, unpretentious golf — the kind of round you play after a tasting-room afternoon, in soft light, with no dress code and real locals on the adjacent tees.
