Few golf clubs carry their town's name quite so literally — Oakbank, in the Adelaide Hills, is a community that has long organized its weekends around two things: the Easter Racing Carnival, one of Australia's most beloved country horse-racing events, and, for those who prefer a different kind of fairway, this modest members' club sitting among the region's rolling hills and native eucalypt country.
Par 68 layouts are often misread as pushover tracks, but short courses in hilly terrain have a way of humbling assumptions. The Adelaide Hills deal in tight lies, uneven stances, and greens that break in directions the eye rarely predicts — and a club that has survived here across the seasons has almost certainly shaped its routing to reward local knowledge and punish casual guesswork.
The Hills sit about 30 kilometres from Adelaide's CBD, where the climate runs cooler and wetter than the plains below. For members, this is genuinely local golf — unpretentious, community-driven, and rooted in a landscape that gives the game its own particular character without needing to advertise it.
