Aruba Golf Club

Aruba Golf Club, located near San Nicolas on the island's southeastern end, is one of the Caribbean's more singular golf experiences — a 9-hole layout that plays through the dramatic arid interior of Aruba rather than along its famous beaches. The course dates back to 1953 and was originally developed to serve the workers of the nearby Lago Oil & Transport refinery, giving it an industrial heritage unusual in golf. That history lends the club a no-frills, unpretentious character that feels genuinely local rather than resort-polished.

What strikes visitors immediately is the terrain: Aruba sits outside the hurricane belt and receives little rainfall, so the landscape is dry, rocky, and dotted with cacti and divi-divi trees — those wind-sculpted icons that lean permanently southwest, shaped by the island's relentless trade winds.
