Few courses in Ontario announce themselves quite so literally as this one. The Rock takes its name from the Canadian Shield geology that defines every inch of the property — exposed granite outcroppings, ancient bedrock, and the raw topography of Muskoka that architects can shape around but never truly tame. Doug Carrick designed the course, and his routing works with the Shield rather than against it, producing a layout where the land is never far from your awareness and where no two consecutive holes feel the same.
Minnett sits in the heart of Muskoka, the storied cottage country north of Toronto that draws Ontarians each summer for its lakes, pines, and clean northern air. Golf here shares the calendar with boating and fishing, and The Rock fits that premium resort character — a destination round rather than a casual weekday loop, surrounded by the kind of landscape that makes even a bogey feel forgivable.
The par of 70 signals a tighter, more strategic test than a power-forward layout, rewarding placement and course management over raw distance. Combined with the Shield terrain, errant shots here don't just find rough — they find rock.
