Thendara Golf Club

Few Adirondack golf courses carry the sense of authenticity that Thendara Golf Club does. Founded in 1921 and designed by Devereaux Emmet — the same architect behind Congressional and Garden City — the club sits along the Moose River in the central Adirondacks, where the fairways weave through northern hardwoods and the kind of wild, unhurried terrain that defined early American golf. It's a course that has aged gracefully, retaining much of its original routing while the forests around it have only grown more dramatic.

Thendara the hamlet sits near Old Forge, a gateway to the Adirondack Park, one of the largest protected wilderness areas in the lower 48 states. The seasons here are short and decisive — summers are cool and brilliant, fall turns the surrounding maples and birches into something genuinely spectacular, and the course typically closes by late October.
