Arnold Palmer designed Lost Key Golf Club, which opened in 1998 as the centerpiece of a planned community development on the Florida Panhandle. The layout winds through a coastal wetland and maritime forest environment, and Palmer's team worked to preserve the natural character of the site — salt marshes, native grasses, and stands of longleaf pine frame many holes. That ecological sensitivity gives the course a quieter, more naturalistic feel than much of the resort golf found along the Gulf Coast corridor.
Perdido Key sits on a barrier island straddling the Florida-Alabama line, surrounded by Perdido Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The area's landscape is defined by white sand, water in every direction, and the kind of light that shifts dramatically in the late afternoon. Winds off the Gulf regularly influence play, turning straightforward approaches into genuine tests of shot selection.
Lost Key plays as a semi-private facility tied to the surrounding residential development, giving it a more unhurried pace than the busier resort courses in nearby Pensacola Beach and Orange Beach. For visitors, it offers a genuine sense of place that reflects the quieter, less-commercialized end of the Emerald Coast.
